At Meitheal, we are proud to host transition year students and influence the next generation of architects and technologists. We offer students a chance to work in and develop an understanding of a busy architectural practice.
The RIAI TY programme allows students to design a small local commercial project. Students learn how the architectural process develops through the life cycle of a project.
This week, our TY student, Michelle Vaughan, worked with mentors Martina Babić and Dylan O’Gorman, to design a conceptual coffee shop on Kennedy Quay, Cork. Michelle created a very interesting design using an old shipping container to fit out a relaxed and welcoming dining space. Martina assisted her in creating a mood board for the project to visualise the space.
She also attended site meetings with director Luke Hickson to gain some insight into the day to day workings of a live project.
