Eat on the street plans in Cork City

We are excited to be developing ‘eat-on-the-street’ plans on behalf of business owners on Cork's Princes Street, with Cork City Council. The proposal underway will allow the streets' many restaurants and bars to comply with physical distancing guidelines and reopen when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, adding a unique new character to the urban fabric of Cork with vibrant new public spaces; helping to re-imagine Cork City in new ways. Following Irish Government and HSE issued guidance on COVID-19 and the workplace, Meitheal Architects have implemented staggered working hours and remote working practices for staff until the 29th March.
Our offices will remain open for business but we have cancelled all meetings during this time. We will continue to be available to our clients, project partners and local authorities on all work-related matters.

Windsor Hotel ‘micro-sleeper’ for Cork City.

Work has begun on site at the Windsor Hotel on MacCurtain Street creating a new ‘micro-sleeper’ hotel for Cork City. Meitheal Architects worked closely with our clients and Fáilte Ireland to develop a new Welcome Standard for a modern sleeper room – a small, comfortable and modern room reflecting the needs and aspirations of the modern traveller. The hotel is aimed at tourists who are travelling light and are wanting to stay somewhere central.

We are proud to announce that our Strategic Housing Development submission for the 118 apartment 'Railway Gardens' scheme has been approved by An Bord Pleanála. This is one of the first Build to Rent schemes in Cork to be approved, setting a precedent as An Bord Pleanála underline national policies in relation to promoting sustainable, dense, connected communities and neighbourhoods in appropriate key urban locations. This permission builds on our recent and ongoing PRS experience and we look forward to our housing and place-making team bringing their expertise to the rest of our growing PRS portfolio.
Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim

Meitheal have submitted a planning permission application for the construction of a residential development consisting of 37 no. homes in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. The residential development completes Phase 1 of a larger masterplan for the area. The masterplan comprises of the residential proposals, a regional employment hub, medical facility, and various civic amenities to resolve the existing unfinished development. We are very pleased to be working closely with the Leitrim County Council to deliver this scheme.
Cork Architectural Association Exhibition 2019

Our recently completed Toor House, Waterville Co. Kerry is featuring in this year's Cork Architectural Association's Annual Exhibition, 'Experience. Unravelled'. The exhibition will run until Nov 29th in the foyer of the Cork City Civic Offices on Anglesea Street. The opening night is Friday 8th November. See more here
Oranmore Primary Care Centre

Meitheal Architects have applied for planning permission for the development of a Primary Care Centre in Oranmore, Co. Galway. The centre is an important development for the region, providing essential healthcare facilities to a local community. The Care Centre will provide key health services such as child health, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, thus reducing the requirement for the catchment population to travel to Galway City. The Centre will also include a GP suite, public pharmacy, specialist nursing such as midwifery and dieticians, an ambulance deployment point, as well as over 150 car parking spaces.
