The Mills, Newcastle

Project overview

The Mills is a residential development of 224 units with a mix of apartments, duplex and houses, predicated on a strong, distinctive urban basis and a pedestrian friendly public realm, Landmark buildings - corner and view terminus buildings – are finished with a coloured render, as a way-finding, while the typical units are white. Adjacent to Castletroy Town Centre shopping centre and immediately proximate to Limerick City & County Council’s proposed bus corridor serving the university and city centre. Defined by clear urban blocks with an emphasis on connectivity and permeability with the adjoining area, the development incorporates the Castletroy Urban Greenway through the site.

The Castletroy Urban Greenway also connects The Mills with the local Crèche, Gaelscoil, Castletroy College and various other community amenities; the shopping centre, cinema, local park and sports pitches.
