Meitheal completed the redevelopment of the contemporary Castlemartyr resort in May 2022, providing a new 500sqm restaurant with an up-to date modern show kitchen, a new reception area, and an adjacent porte cochere. This process included the design, document, build and fit-out in a live hotel environment, allowing the estate’s new owner to transition crucial operational changes within the hotel.

The careful balance of architectural elements and modern detailing created a sense of calm and elegance, adhering to the client’s brief, desired atmosphere and natural palette. The interior of the new structures references the hotel’s existing gardens, seamlessly integrating the indoors and outdoors. We have worked with the client on optimizing the use of outdoor space in proximity of the new developments.

Our flexible work practices enabled us to fast-track this project over the hotel’s off-season, while dealing with COVID-19 related material and labour shortages, and the challenges presented by communication with an overseas client. The ability to run statutory and design processes in-parallel, rather than sequentially, meant Meitheal ensured the overall success and delivery of the project within agreed timelines.
