Oranmore Primary Care Centre

Project overview

Meitheal have successfully achieved planning permission for the construction of a 5,109sqm Primary Care Centre in Oranmore, Galway. The facility is due to become a hub for vital community-based public health facilities, to include a GP suite, child health facilities, access to specialist community nursing, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, x-ray services, and counselling. 150 parking spaces will be provided, along with an ambulance deployment point within walking distance of the town of Oranmore.

This development will provide a base for the Oranmore Primary Care Team, which currently serves a growing population of over 14,000 people, reducing their requirement to travel to the city centre to access these services.

The design for the new PCC thoughtfully considers the placement, scale, and materiality of the building, to provide a strong but respectful presence in the surrounding context. Environ-informed landscaping creates a strong edge to the site boundary, providing visual amenity and ensuring the PCC is undisturbed by the adjacent busy roads.
